Does the Archetype of the
Roman God Jupiter Show Up in Your Life?
In hand analysis
we deal with the principles of Life Purpose and Life Lesson. We
use archetypes to help you understand those principles. The Archetype
of the Roman mythological god, Jupiter, is represented by your index
finger.
Jupiter was
the leader of all gods. He was the power that sat on the throne.
He was the authority that everyone answered to. The values associated
with this archetype are that of power, leadership, and authority.
Jupiter’s Greek counterpart was Zeus. So, Jupiter was the
cloud god, the god of thunderbolts. His throne was in the clouds.
He had the best seat in the house. And it was his
vision and his dreams that were implemented
and fulfilled by the rest of the gods. Just as your index finger
points the way, so Jupiter pointed the way.
Jupiter’s
key word is “action” and his key phrase is “I
want.” I want + action = Power. And power is Jupiter’s
thing! On the other hand (no pun intended), Jupiter’s fear
is “I can’t.”
Have
you ever said something like:
- I don’t
know what I want
- I don’t
know how to say “no”
- I don’t
know how to achieve my goals
These are Jupiter
Life Lesson statements. Remember the issue is power, the fear is
“I can’t” and the key word is “action.”
If you are making these statements, you are probably dealing with
Jupiter’s fear of “I can’t.” To counteract
that behavior, what you need to do is take some sort, any sort,
of action on your own behalf. You are being challenged here, and
the muscle is weak. In this moment, you believe that you can’t
so you need to set up some sort of regimen that has you taking action
on any level to achieve your goals (as opposed to someone else’s)
on a regular basis no matter how large or how small.
In contrast,
what would you look like if you were exhibiting Jupiter qualities
on a Life Purpose level? It’s like the difference between
a powerful General in the army and the seeming powerlessness of
the individual ranked as a Private.
When a person
is inhabiting Jupiter Life Purpose characteristics, they are usually
going to be influential, independent and have impact on their surroundings
whether they are trying to or not.
Conversely,
when a person is dealing with Jupiter Life Lesson issues, that person
will not know or recognize that they are influential or have impact
on those around them. In other words, they will not have confidence
in their own leadership abilities, so they will hold themselves
back. It doesn’t mean that they can’t be or aren’t
leaders, that’s just their fear. As a matter of fact, often
times when they do “accidentally” step into the leadership
arena, diamonds and gems fall out of their mouths.
People working
with Jupiter Life Lesson issues may have a tendency to over compensate
for their feeling of powerlessness (in other words, the fear “I
can’t”) by trying to prove that they are more powerful
than they feel. Their fear is they are not powerful enough and unchecked,
this is going to cause problems for them. On the other hand, they
can access and express their true qualities of leadership when they
take action on their own behalf, or attempt to implement their vision,
or pursue fulfilling their dream.
